2010-2011 NCSG

Board of Directors Nominees

 

Here are you nominees for the upcoming election of NCSG directors. Please note that the recently approved bylaws call for two year terms for directors. Additionally, the new NCSG regions become effective during of the February 23, 2010 board of directors meeting in Indianapolis

 

Ballots will be mailed from the National Chimney Sweep Guild office on January 5 and must be returned by February 5, 2010.

 

Seat: Region 1 (Representing Connecticut, Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, Maine, Rhode Island, New Hampshire)

   

Phillip Mitchell

 

Phillip Mitchell is the proprietor of The Seacoast Sweep in Newmarket, NH. When asked why he seeks election, Mitchell responded, “The future success of NCSG depends on active recruitment of new members and member retention. I believe it is necessary to develop and implement a program to that end and emphasize the benefits of the Guild. Resources need to be made available to accomplish this by allocating funding from within a current operating budget.”

 

Mitchell is currently CSIA Certified, has held all executive committee positions in his state organization, is coordinator of the third largest industry event (SweepfestNH) and belongs to the Advancing MIX Group.

Seat: Region 2 ( Representing: Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania)

Robert A. Fleer

 

Robert Fleer is the president of Complete Chimneys, Inc. in Severna Park, MD. When asked why he seeks election, Fleer responded,” My educational background in hotel, restaurant management gives me strong business and marketing skills. I have been a chimney sweep for 30 years, first as Cinderfella Chimney Sweeps and later evolving to become Complete Chimneys, Inc. Through my dealings with the industry I have been helpful in designing several innovative items that we al use daily in our businesses.” He adds, “I have good writing skills and a good understanding of our industry. I have learned in life how to listen and how to work as a team member for the better good.  Have always been a forward thinker and innovative in my ideas. I would like to see the Guild grow and would work hard to promote the Guild and our industry. I suppose that if one has their own sweep business and runs and organization made up of 5 service crews and an office staff that they would be a hard worker. I always work and plan with the end in mind.”

 

Fleer is currently a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep, is a factory-trained Bellfires installer, Boa Ventinox and Homesaver stainless steel liner installer, Heatshield crefractory school trained Heatshield installer, Regency wood stove training school sales, service and installation and is Regency Gas Tech II qualified.

Seat: Region 3 (Representing: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia)

Jay Walker
Incumbent

Jay Walker is the president of Jay Walker Enterprises, Inc. in Tallahassee, FL. When asked why he seeks re-election, Walker responded, “Back in 2006, I felt it was time for me to step up and give back to the industry on a national level. I plan to continue to give time to the NCSG on a productive scale Help increase membership and reinforce benefits and keep a watch on the fiscal responsibilities.” He maintains the following personal qualities and skills of value to the Board and Guild, “Balance o level thinking and perspectives. When given a task- I will do my best to complete full and in a timely manner.”

 

Walker has been a business owner for 18 years and owner/operator for the first ten years, doing all of the jobs to run the business. Now with four employees (3 techs and 1 part-time in the office), he states that he has gotten into doing all aspects of running a business as well as managerial skills. Walker is the past-secretary of the Tallahassee 100 Club (a local business organization of about 100 business owner members). He is also the past  Master Councilor (“President”) of local DeMolay chapter and past State Jr. Councilor (“Second Vice President”) on a state level and is a graduate of a leadership conference camp.

Seat: Region 4 (Representing Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio)

Gregg Boss

Gregg Boss is the president of English Sweep, Inc. in Ballwin, MO. When asked why he seeks election, Boss responded, “To continue the public awareness of a much needed service, help others to build their businesses and to give back to the Guild.” He added, “I’m cheerful, optimistic, tenacious, extroverted, family oriented. I work well with conflict resolution, am open to new idea and am willing to do what it takes to get the job done.”

 

Boss is currently a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep and regularly volunteers at NCSG conventions. He has also served as the President and Vice President of the Missouri Guild.

Marge Padgitt

Marge Padgitt is the president of HearthMasters, Inc. in Independence, MO. When asked her reason for seeking nomination, Padgitt responded, “I would like to give back to the industry that has given me so much. My input regarding industry standards, and procedures may be of value to the members, and assist in growing the NCSG and making it a stronger organization. I would seek more input from region 4 members.” She added, “I am motivated, detail-oriented, and have communications, marketing and writing skills, theatrical and radio experience, internet and website training, and have designed and taught educational seminars for 16 years. My strongest skill is teaching.”

 

Padgitt is currently CSIA and NFI certified, has served on various committees in the NCSG, MCSC, MHA and NARI, has served on the board for the Masonry Heater Association, the Midwest Chimney Safety Council, an the Midwest HPBA. Padgitt has a BA degree in Business and an MA in Writing. She has advanced HTML and internet training and was a professional musician for 25 years.
